Moyne votes for 5km wind turbine push back
THE Moyne Shire has supported the Hawkesdale community’s concern that a proposed wind farm will limit the township’s ability to grow.
Councillors voted unanimously at Tuesday’s meeting to write a letter to planning minister, Richard Wynne, calling on him to ensure the windfarm’s turbines were at least five kilometres away from the town’s boundaries.
The support comes after the Hawkesdale and District Development Action Committee (HADDAC) wrote to the shire this month with its concerns over the location of the windfarm.
In the letter, HADDAC secretary, Frank Huglin said the community was concerned the windfarm could “directly interfere with the potential of the Hawkesdale township to develop and thrive”.
