Passenger flights return
AFTER almost six years, passenger flights will again leave Hamilton for Melbourne in the coming months.
Hamilton has been without passenger flights since Sharp Airlines dropped its service to Melbourne in December 2014, but regional airline, Southern Airways has plans to fill the void.
General manager, Brendon Hempel said the airline was planning to run four return flights to Melbourne’s Essendon Airport each week.
“The opportunity for the service was there after Sharp stopped to Melbourne and we felt the demand was there,” he said.
